Lower Level Down the Line (Baseball) Seating
The main attraction of seating down the line are the bullpens located on either side. The Rays bullpen can be found in front of sections 128 and 130, while the visiting team bullpen is on the opposite side of the field at 127 and 129.
These sections are also great for getting a ball -- either a foul ball or one tossed up from the bullpen. Section 134 offers a batting cage, speed pitch and baseball carnival -- making it popular among families with kids.
Sit in an odd section for the best view of the scoreboard and avoid rows WW and XX, which may be obstructed by the 200 level overhang.
Lower Level Infield (Baseball) Seating
Lower Level Infield seating at Tropicana Field includes sections 101-126. Odd number sections are on the third base side, while even sections are on the first base side.
The Rays dugout is in front of even sections 112-118, while the visitor's dugout is in front of odd sections 111-117. Avoid Rows WW and XX on the Lower Level because of the obstructed view created by the 200 level overhang.
While sections 101-106 will give you the best home plate view, most concessions and restrooms are on each baseline rather than behind home plate.
Lower Level Outfield (Baseball) Seating
The outfield at Tropicana Field is an inexpensive way to get close to the field. Though Tropicana Field is not a home run ballpark, the abundance of outfield seats means that fans are usually walking away with home runs rather than them falling in the bullpens. Sections 141-145 see a fair share of home run balls in the first ten rows, while Right Field home runs tend to land evenly among most rows in even sections 142-148.
Keep in mind that the outfield scoreboard will not be viewable from even-numbered outfield sections.
Press Level Down the Line (Baseball) Seating
As you head down the line on the 200 (Press) Level at Tropicana Field, the concession stands thin out. There is only one concession stand down each line that serves the last four or five sections. Never-the-less, these intimate sections have less than ten rows and a good height for viewing baseball. Similar to lower level seating, sitting on the 3B side (odd numbers) will give you a better view of the outfield scoreboard.
Press Level Infield (Baseball) Seating
The Press Level is another name for 200 level seating at Tropicana Field. These sections contain fewer than ten rows and are a great alternative to the last five rows of the 100 level. Sit in even numbered sections (1B side) for a better view of the scoreboard and to be closer to a greater number of concession and beer stands.
Lower Level Corner (Football) Seating
Located on the 100 level at Tropicana field and in the corners between the endzones and sidelines, the lower level corner sections offer a unique corner viewing angle for the lowest seating tier. Even numbered sections from 132-140 are closest to the right field corner, where some views many be difficult due to the right field foul pole. Sections 101-108 are located behind home plate with a clearer view, but sit slightly further from the field.
These seats are at the lowest tier of regular seating at Tropicana Field (excluding the Party Deck), making row selection a key aspect in deciding where to buy football tickets for a bowl game at Tropicana Field. Single lettered rows are located in front with an impressive proximity to the field, but due to the lower line of sight, the viewing experience will not be as agreeable as the higher double lettered rows.
Lower Level Endzone (Football) Seating
Endzone seating on the lower level will have two different feels from behind the 3rd base line, as well as beyond the right field wall. Odd numbered sections from 109-123 are located along the normal third base line and are close to the playing field level, while even numbered sections from 142-150 are located in Right Field and will sit higher up from the playing surface.
To avoid being too low to the field behind the third base line, opt for seats near the back of the section (double lettered rows) for superior views to the majority of the playing surface. Seats beyond the right field wall will have good elevation from the field in all rows, making the closer rows the best among these right field endzone options. Seats beyond the right field wall will also be very close to to the featured Tropicana Field aquarium which houses 30 cownose rays on display for fans.
Lower Level Sideline (Football) Seating
Lower Level Sideline seating is located on the 100 level, running from endzone to endzone on the 1st base side. These seats are the only traditional stadium style seats along the sidelines, as the Party Deck is the only sideline option on the opposite side of the field.
Sections 120-124 are some of the best options for football tickets with a great placement near the 50 yard line. Sections in this location will have as many as 30 lettered rows of seats, starting with single lettered rows at the front and double lettered rows in the back.
With the entry tunnels located at the top of the sections and better elevated views available as well, we recommend sitting in the double lettered rows for the best experience in this seating area.
Middle Level Corner (Football) Seating
Middle level corner seating is located on the second tier up from the playing surface and behind home pate. Sections is this seating location are separated by a press box directly behind home plate, with even numbered sections 204-210 closer to 1st base, and odd numbered sections 203-209 closer to 3rd base. 200 level seating features fewer rows per section making for quick and easy access to and from the seats.
Middle Level Endzone (Football) Seating
Middle level endzone seating is located on the 200 level running along the 3rd baseline. Seats in this location will benefit from good views of scoring in the near endzone, and are on the second tier up from the playing field. This location contains 7 odd numbered sections from 211-223. 200 level sections have the smallest number of seating rows per section in the ballpark, making them a good option if you prefer convenient access between the seats and the concourse.
Middle Level Sideline (Football) Seating
Middle level seating is located in the 200 level of Tropicana field along the 1st base line. On the second tier of seating from the field of play, fans will experience a good viewing height and benefit from being located near the 50 yard line. Middle level sideline is comprised of 7 even numbered sections running from 212 to 224. 200 level seating features fewer rows per section, making for easy in and out of your seats.
Sideline Party Deck (Football) Seating
Located on the turf of Left Field, the VIP Party Deck is a premium seating area where fans can enjoy sideline views and step on the actual turf of Tropicana Field. The party deck is positioned along the sidelines for good sight lines to all areas of the field, and features all-inclusive beer and wine.
With little elevation above field level, the seats might have difficult views at times due to the players and team personnel along the sidelines. However if you're looking for a one of a kind experience with premium benefits, tickets here are an excellent option.

Best Seats for Great Views of the Field
Owing to its nature as baseball's only permanent indoor stadium, Tropicana Field gets a bad rap as a bad place to watch a game. While the dome certainly lacks the appeal of offering "outdoor" or "night" baseball, small crowds and cheap ticket prices allow fans the opportunity to purchase great seats even on a modest budget.
Tropicana Field is a fairly straight-forward ballpark with three main seating decks. Lower level sections are labeled in the 100s and include odd-numbered sections on the third-base side and even-numbered sections on the first-base side. Views from both sides of the field are fairly equitable, although sitting on the third-base side gives you a head-on view of the videoboard in right-field.
While most fans will argue that the best views in the 100 level sections are in the seats closest to the field, it's worth pointing out that the front rows of these sections are pushed back farther from the field than you might expect. There is extra foul territory on the infield in front of the dugouts which means that fans in sections 101-118 aren't as close to the field as they might like to be.
As an alternative to the expensive tickets in sections 101-118, consider the first six rows in sections 119-124. These rows are truly at field level and provide an excellent view of the field and into the dugouts. If you don't mind being a little bit farther from the field, the elevated rows in sections 101-118 offer one of the most comfortable views from the lower level. Specifically, we like rows EE-JJ which are located just in front of the walkway.
Another opportunity for excellent elevated views comes from the 200 level. While these are club level seats in most ballparks, they are common seating at Tropicana Field and are generally much less expensive than the lower level seats below. Because these sections hang over the lower level (and create obstructed views in some 100 level seats), they are closer to the field than one might expect. Again, we recommend seats on the third-base side where you have a better view of the videoboard, and we also recommend skipping row A where the railing can sometimes be a distraction.
With relatively small crowds for Rays game, the upper deck at Tropicana Field is largely under-sold. Despite being mostly empty, 300 level seats behind home plate might actually be the best cheap seats in all of baseball. Because the 200 level hangs over much of the lower level - and there is only a modest suite level above the 200s - the front rows of the upper deck are closer to the field than at most stadiums. If you're seated in one of the first seven rows of these sections, expect a view similar to what you'd get in club level seats at a modern stadium. Just don't venture up much higher - the desolate highest rows (N and above) are some of the worst cheap seats in all of baseball.
An additional note when considering lower level tickets:
- There are some truly horrific obstructed and claustrophobic views from 100 level seats above the walkway. While the worst views are in rows UU and higher, we also recommend skipping rows PP-TT because of their boxed-in feel and the distraction of people in the walkway.

In all cases, Row A is the closest row to the field. Single lettered rows (A-Z) are located closer to the front, and are followed by the double lettered rows (AA-ZZ) behind. However, it is important to note that almost every single section starts with a different letter. - What direction do the seat numbers run at Tropicana Field?
At Tropicana Field, seat 1 will be on the left of all sections as you face the field of play.
- Where is Suite 6 located at Tropicana Field?
Suite 6 is located near home plate and just above Press Level Section 206. Suites provide ticket holders with a more private experience at Tropicana Field, with optional private catering available for purchase.
- What is the obstruction in row 1 of the 200 level at Tropicana Field?
Some tickets listed for sale at Tampa Bay Rays games will show an "obstructed view" warning. While this is a significant issue on the 100 level, some tickets in the first row of 200 level sections are being labeled with this warning as well. On a recent 3-game trip to Tropicana Field, we hunted down the reason(s) for this warning.
As we suspected, this "obstructed" label refers to the railings at the front of each section. While these railings are highly distracting, they are an issue for upper level seating at almost every ballpark and arena in North America. Smaller fans and children may have to squirm a little bit to find a good viewing angle around the railing, but taller fans will hardly find it a distraction.
Overall, we recommend sitting in row 2 or higher in the 200 level - just to avoid any potential railing issues. But at the same time, don't let the railing completely deter you from buying tickets in the first row if the price is right and ticket inventory is limited.

For fans seated in lower level sections 101-134 at Tropicana Field there is a walkway that separates these sections into lower and upper portions. The walkway runs around most of the lower bowl and provides access to the concourse tunnels where fans will find concessions and restrooms. In each of these sections, row JJ is the last row before the walkway begins. The walkway is comprised of space for fans to walk, along with a single row of wheelchair seating commonly labeled WCH. This accessible seating space is located directly behind row JJ.
The walkway and wheelchair seating space occupy what would be rows KK-OO. Therefore, the first row above the walkway is labeled PP. For fans seated on the third-base side of the field, rows PP and higher are sometimes called the Loge seats, while the same seats in even-numbered sections 106-126 are part of the exclusive Rays Club.
Because the walkway can become crowded with fans, views from the rows just above the walkway can sometimes be interrupted. Unless you're looking to sit in the Rays Club for its club benefits and comfortable seating, we recommend seats just in front of the walkway in rows FF-JJ. These seats will provide a nice elevated view of the field, quick walks to the concourse and no walkway distractions.
