OSRS 2023 Easter Event Guide (2024)

The Easter event in Old School RuneScape is an annual seasonal event for around 4 weeks. This year’s event started on April 5th. Players with OSRS accounts start by interacting with the Easter Bunny located just west of the Varrock square, between the building with Zaff and Varrock’s west bank, which has been the location of many other seasonal events over the years. You won’t make much GP from the rewards for the Easter event, and you might even spend a little OSRS gold on a few teleports.

Starting Out

You can do the event both as a F2P and as a member. Before you begin, grab some Varrock teleport tablets or runes to cast the Varrock teleport Spell and ensure you have enough space in your inventory. Even though the teleports themselves don’t cost much OSRS GP, if you’re a beginner, you can simply run and skip using them if you want to conserve all of your gold.

Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny will ask you whether you’ve seen their egg mould, and you will question the Bunny on what they’ve done with it and when they’ve last seen it. The Bunny suggests the kids playing around might have taken it and asks if you know who they are. You tell them they could be Gertrude’s kids, and the Bunny asks you to ask her if she has the egg mould.

Answering yes to the Easter Bunny’s request will start the Easter event. The Bunny also warns you to report back to them when you locate the mould since the object is extremely fragile, and they want to give you further instructions on handling it. Head northwest on the path leading to the Barbarian village and stop at Gertrude’s house.

Gertrude

Interact with Gertrude and pick option 1 (Easter 2023) to speak about the Easter event. She will confess that her kids have been doing something secretive since the previous night. You carry on by telling Gertrude about the Easter Bunny, and she admits it’s possible they took the mould. On further questioning, she confesses that the previous year selling kittens was slow, so she couldn’t afford to get them Easter eggs. She points you to where her four kids (Kanel, Philop, Shilop, Wilough) are and tells you to speak to them.

Philop

Since two of them are in the same building, you should speak with them first. When you speak with Philop, he says that his brothers ran off the previous night while he was playing with his friend. On further questioning, you infer that his friend is Charlie, the trump in South Varrock, and assume that it’s possible the kids hid the egg mould with him.

Kanel

When you speak to Kanel, he denies stealing the egg mould and says he couldn’t go outside because of the homework but offers to gladly help you find more information from his brothers if you help him with his homework.

He gives you a series of numbers, each representing a letter of the alphabet in order, which translates to “Happy Easter.” Input this without capitals to solve his homework, and he will tell you that he overheard his brothers talking about a colorful spade.

Shilop

You can now walk back to the Varrock square or use the Varrock teleport spell on the standard spellbook to get there faster. Go to the northeast side of the square, close to the building with the two anvils, to find the other two boys.

Talk to Shilop, and you’ll ask him about the egg mould. He deflects your question, and you tell him that Gertrude admitted they didn’t get any Easter eggs the previous years. He will challenge you to solve an anagram, but if you lose, you agree to buy him an Easter egg yourself.

He will give you a multiple-choice answer to the anagram, so simply pick the “drain” option. He then tells you that they did steal the egg mould, but it didn’t work for them, and they wanted some Easter eggs because of the previous year. You reassure the boy that once you return the mould, you’ll bring some Easter eggs to Gertrude for them. He then confesses that they hid it near a drain and tells you to ask his brother for more information.

Wilough

Carry on and talk to Wilough just slightly north of his brother Shilop. And ask him about the egg mould. He questions why to tell you anything, and you explain that without it, there would be no Easter eggs in Gielinor. He agrees to help you if you beat him at a game of eggs, silk, and secateurs. You agree to play, and this will start a cut scene. Regardless of your choice, you will lose, but Horvik from the building nearby tells you to go and speak to him. After the cutscene ends, enter the building with 2 anvils to the east and speak to Horvik.

Horvik tells you that he overhears the boy only winning every single day and gives you a giant bronze dagger to beat the kid at his own game since the dagger beats silk, egg, and secateurs. Head back to Wilough and challenge him for another game. Pick the dagger option (it will be the only one). Even though he is taken aback that he was defeated for the first time at his own game. He changes his mind about you and believes it’s possible you’d save the Easter, so he tells you they have hidden the egg mould near a pub.

Mould

You should return to the Easter Bunny knowing the mould is in a drain near the pub. The bunny gives you an eastfloor spade to retrieve the mould safely. Head to the south of Varrock near the pub. The drain is located near the flagpole on the east side of the building. Dig one tile east from the drain to retrieve the mould, then use a Varrock teleport tablet or the Varrock teleport spell and run back to the bunny or the bunny to hand them the mould.

Making eggs

The bunny then asks you to make 5 eggs to ensure the mold works. Ask him how to make them and ask him for ingredients 5 times, then head to the building to the west as there is a cooking range in there.

Use the chocolate powder on the mould and then use the mould on the cooking range to obtain half a chocolate egg (which you’ll need to take out of the mould). Repeat the process until you have 10 halves, and then use the halves together. Afterward, use the Warm Easter egg on the Bucket of frozen milk to harden them.

Wrapping up

Head back to the Easter bunny, and he will be delighted that Easter is saved and tells you he’ll make some colorful eggs while you drop the eggs you made at Gertrude’s house. Head to Gertrude’s house with at least 5 easter eggs in your inventory, and she will be pleased with the gift. Head back to the Easter Bunny to get your rewards and unlock all of the previous year’s Easter rewards. The only treatable item you’ll get is two Easter eggs, which sell for about 7k OSRS GP each. If you used teleports to finish the event even faster, you won’t make any OSRS gold but have gained access to a series of cosmetic items.
